McDonald Swim School teaches private and semi-private lessons only, in an indoor pool heated year-round to about 88 degrees at its Shoreline location on NW 195th Street. Families bring their own grouping of one to three swimmers, so children are never paired with strangers. The progression starts with Baby and Tot classes for ages 0 to 4 covering water familiarity, bubbles, rolling to safety and jumping in, then moves through beginner levels into stroke technique. Instructors are former competitive swimmers, and adults and all abilities are welcome.
Instructors get named individually and often in reviews, with parents highlighting calm, positive energy and an ability to meet a fearful child where they are.
