Aquatics here include group, semi-private and private swim lessons following the YMCA's eight-stage progression for infants through adults, Safety Around Water instruction, and family and lap swim times; instructors hold national teaching, CPR, AED and first aid certifications.
Even the branch's harshest critics say the people who work here are amazing and genuinely care about the community, and members value having a Y in the Central District at all.
Google reviews are about the building rather than the swim program: long-time members say this is the one branch that has never been remodeled, with a sauna out of service for years, dated locker rooms and unrepaired restroom fixtures, and one parent was unhappy with the equipment in a youth basketball class.
