Bellevue Club Lifeguard Training
4.5Bellevue, WA
Ages 15–18About this program
The Bellevue Club teaches the American Red Cross Lifeguarding course in a blended-learning format, pairing online coursework with in-water skill sessions at the club pools, and it is open to non-members as well as members. Candidates must be at least 15 years old by the last scheduled class date and pass a prerequisite swim on the first day. Full certification classes run most weekends year-round, either Friday evening through Sunday or as a two-day Saturday-Sunday format, and successful candidates earn Lifeguarding, First Aid and CPR/AED certification valid for two years. A shorter review course runs the last weekend of most months for teens renewing a certification that has not yet expired, and an instructor course is available for those who want to go on to teach. The club is also one of the Eastside partner pools used by the SPLASHForward high school lifeguard program.
Reviewers describe a well-maintained, state-of-the-art athletic facility with an Olympic-size indoor pool and a family-friendly atmosphere, and repeatedly call the staff attentive and welcoming.
The Google reviews and rating cover the private club as a whole (gym, tennis, dining and hotel) rather than the lifeguard course specifically, so they say little about the instruction itself. Recurring complaints are a long waitlist and holding fee to join as a member, difficult parking between 5 and 7 pm, and belongings left overnight not being recovered. Note the lifeguard course is open to non-members at a higher fee.
