Meadowbrook Pool
4.4Seattle, WA
Ages 0–17About this program
Seattle Parks and Recreation's 25-yard indoor pool in Lake City, sharing a building with Meadowbrook Community Center, with a rope swing, high dive, water fitness equipment and a sauna. Group and personal swim lessons run on a quarterly catalogue serving ages 6 months to adults: Parent and Child Aquatics, Three-Year-Old Aquatics and Preschool Aquatics for ages 4-5, then Beginning, Advanced, Adaptive and Swim Team Prep for ages 6-14. Older kids can take Intro to Diving (6-17), Synchronized Swimming (6-16) and Junior Lifeguarding (11-14). A skill assessment is required before enrolling in Advanced Swimmer, Swim Team Prep, Diving or Summer Swim League. The pool fields a Meadowbrook team in the citywide Summer Swim League for ages 7-18, which runs late June to the start of August, and hosts a free Friday Teen Late Night drop-in swim for ages 13-17 through the summer. This is a seasonal city rec programme rather than a rolling one: classes are sold as quarterly sessions and you can only sign up during the published registration windows (fall 2026 opened Aug. 11, winter 2027 opens Dec. 8), with scholarship families registering a week early. Locker room, HVAC and roof renovations are scheduled under the citywide pool package for 2027-2028; the pool is open and running its normal programme in the meantime.
Reviewers describe a clean, well-staffed neighbourhood pool with attentive lifeguards, comfortably warm water, an extensive lap schedule, a sauna and easy parking right outside; one parent likes that the two-minute swim test gates the rope swing and high dive, calling it a useful tool for both guards and parents.
Google reviews here are mostly about drop-in and open swim rather than the lesson programme. The main complaint is tone: one visitor found the rules enforced harshly and staff unnecessarily curt with children, and busier open-swim blocks can get crowded.
