A 25-yard indoor Seattle Parks and Recreation lap pool on the east shore of Green Lake, in the same building as Green Lake Community Center, with a sauna. Group and personal swim lessons run on a quarterly catalogue for ages 6 months to adults: Parent and Child Aquatics from 6 months, Three-Year-Old Aquatics, Preschool Aquatics (4-5), then Beginning, Advanced and Swim Team Prep for ages 6-14, Adaptive lessons for 6-16, and one-on-one, two-on-one and three-on-one personal lessons. Evans is one of the few city pools offering youth Synchronized Swimming, for ages 8-17. It fields an Evans team in the citywide Summer Swim League for ages 7-18 from late June through early August, and runs a free Friday-night Teen Swim for ages 13-17. A skill assessment is required before Advanced Swimmer, Swim Team Prep, Synchronized Swimming, Diving or Summer Swim League. Lessons are seasonal city rec sessions with published registration windows rather than rolling sign-up, and Seattle Parks has said Evans will expand hours and lesson capacity in the near term to absorb demand from the closed Queen Anne Pool.
One parent of a 7-year-old reports a good first swim class here with friendly staff, a clean pool and well-managed crowding at the start of the lesson; others praise the staff, the sauna and the Green Lake park setting, and note it is less crowded at midday than other north Seattle pools.
Most reviews are about drop-in swimming and facilities rather than teaching: the pool is shallow throughout, the diving board and small locker rooms draw complaints, showers back up after lessons let out, and parking can be hard. One parent was refused a mid-session swim-lesson start under a policy they could not find published anywhere.
