West Seattle branch of the YMCA of Greater Seattle with a six-lane, ADA-accessible lap pool. Aquatics include group, semi-private and private swim lessons on the YMCA's staged progression for infants through teens, Safety Around Water instruction, a youth swim team, and family and recreational swim times. Lessons run in seasonal registration sessions, and membership also covers the nearby Fauntleroy Y pool.
Members call the staff knowledgeable, polite and exceptionally professional, and say the facility is clean with gym equipment replaced before it wears out. Travelling YMCA families single out the supervised Kids Zone as the reason both parents can use the branch.
One parent who paid for six private swim lessons for a four-year-old at $87 each says there was no structure or progression and the child was passed between instructors with no consistency. Most other criticism is about the building rather than youth programmes: aging equipment and maintenance, a small basketball court and running track, and staff focused on enforcing minor rules.
